Puh...; ) you made me read a bit what I read about 1 year ago or so...well, the authors question in general, whether such Exodus on a big scale could have taken place...one argument is, you should be able to find something in the desert at En el-Quderat, an Oasis identified by archeologist as the modern "offspring" of ancient Kadesch Barnea...
The book lists lots of findings & asks how can that possible be in line with the biblical text...
They take a different stance than Albright, of course him working in an earlier period of time...
There is an interview with Finkelstein at the homepage of the Biblical Archealogical Review...
BAR...Another big name is Yadin, who is in his interpretations also close to the biblical text.
Finkelstein ranks somewhere in between the Conservative Archeoliogists & the modernists...
A friend of mine, who is fluent in Hebrew told me, that the 600 000 of supposed to have fled Israelis
can be also read in a different way: that word for
thousand is also used for a group of people, if I remember right...odd enough, Finkelstein doesn't mention that possibility, cause he has difficulties with that big number himself...
