yes on yancey! there is much in his stuff that speaks to the exmember. have you read "soul survivor"? in it he discusses many works that spoke to him in his recovery from abusive toxic versions of christianity. it is a blessing to recognize how our experiences overlap the struggles many sincere seekers face, and simultaneously realize how the issues intertwine w/ the age old search for meaning in life. not all believers check their brains at the door.
right now i'm reading his newest, "rumours of another world"..whatever exmems do w/ their experiences, we still face the issues of lifes meaning. an utter abondonment of the search is no answer.
