I don't know the history of publically known "witches" much. And as far as training goes, when I wrote about my mother the point was what she was interested in. But the book by Sybil Leek probably referred more to having been trained by Aleister Crowley. And also mentioned LeVey. I just saw the book and found a knotted green string in it. I am not that interested in what all the pagan ritual stuff is, and what my mother practiced I don't know where she got it from because she kept it secret in part. Everyone knew she read cards and lots of people from all over came to her for readings. She had a basket full of different decks of cards. Some regular playing decks, some decks of various tarot types and some really unusual one I had never seen before. I think these were the decks she used with her regular clients (their chosen decks). She was in touch with a circle of psychics one of which went public and began to assist police with cases.
What was wrong with my mother's form of "magick" and how she used it was that she used it to control when it came to me, in a very negative way at times. My point in my story is more about the spirituality of the individuals that were my bio. parents (at least one of them was anyway).
Perhaps your reaction is because you are Pagan and have more information about the history of different people. From that standpoint, I appreciate any technical correction you have. Also any insight. ;)
