This skit is so so funny... but it actually typifies daily life in a CM home! Except the Family doesn't kneel to pray. Even to the point ot Jesus' arrival (I would associate that to like a prophecy)!
Yes, praying over everything is not only in Family. But I can see the affects it had in my life. There's always the question if your prophecy was "just your own mind" or was it really "Jesus"? In an attempt to spiritualize everything it just becomes another works trip. As you go about "turning every thought into a prayer"... you are in effect doing some sort of ritual.. albeit in your mind.
In an attempt for a person to "obey the latest word", I've seen young and older folks praying like this plus adding "in the name of the keys"... in the same way a person says "please", "thank you", "sir and ma'am".... it looses it's meaning after awhile and just becomes a habit.
Yes, much of what we learned in the Family was taken from other groups and actively put into practice in our daily lives... but it seems in it's zeal to be "the best", the Family has perfected spiritualism.
