keep going with that train of thought and look at peoples without religion - per se. Look at tribal peoples - they worship SOMETHING - some god of some sort. Even if it's ancestor worship, there is something that people want to worship - the sun, the moon. And how did all these people from the far flung corners of the globe, way before mass communication, talk to each other and perform this scam? I think it's that everyone knows there is something bigger than mankind, something must have created them. I think that they also want to know that evil people will be punished somehow and maybe subconsciouly, that's where we get heaven and hell from. Just a guess.
