We are always bombarded by some sort of influencing energies (advertising, communal patterns, etc.) so that being truly independent is a problem. We seldom make decisions in a vaccum and the thought that there is more self-determination incertain countries than in others is incorrect.
Maybe only a few times in our life, when we make decisions in new situations totally unrelated to old knowledge. Even then we might be conditioned to react a certain way.
