Well, that's cool. I don't usually make people's points when disputing their views. ;)
You had talked about them trying to remember what Jesus had said after many years of being beaten and kicked around. I "assumed" (perhaps incorrectly) you meant they had maybe been kicked in the head a few times and their memory couldn't be expected to remember things so well anymore.
You also spoke of them picking and choosing through existing documents. Again, my take on what you were saying was that there was some kind of "conspiracy" to exclude gnostic writings which were "just as authentic as the historical gospel". I guess even out of the cult, language we used is sometimes loaded and can convey meanings we hadn't intended.
