Can anyone tell me what a 'Teens for Christ' witness was like at Huntington Beach pier in 68-70? Was it radical or subdued?
Answer: It was mostly one on one and I would say very subdued, mostly focusing on salvation. Receiving Jesus as your personal savior.
Can you give me an example of what might typically be said at such a witness?
Jesus loves you, brother. Have you ever asked Jesus to come into your heart. Then scriptures about salvation Jo 3:16, Jo 1:12.
Was it one on one or was a crowd generated through some kind of obnoxious attention getting scene?
The very beginning was not often through crowds perhaps once a week we carried placards.
Were signs with radical prophetic statements used then?
Answer.Sometimes, the signs generalled said "the wicked shall be turned into hell and all nations that forget God." Or some of the prophecy tract which said... Turn your eyes toward Memphis...etc. Or some kind of salvation message.
Were tracts used?
We used little "red bibles" they had a couple of salvation messages in them.
Also, what we called the warning tract.. with ..Turn your eyes toward Memphis..(sorry I can't remember everything on it)
When hippies were brought into a Berg lecture as a result of this witness, what was his lecture like?
He was like a hippie radical..always started something like "The system is going to be turned into hell" Rambling on the system for hours...
What things might he say in contrast to the typical Christian message?
The real big difference that I see, since I left the group in 77 and what I have learned now is the love of the gospel that he didn't preach... he preached more like a wrathful, hateful, anti system message... whereas, Christ's message is love, compassion, forgiveness, long suffering. He mixed his antisocialness with the gospel, it probably would confuse more people now then it did then.
Most of the time, I think he directed his thoughts on the antiWar, antiEstablishment movement. God what a waste of time, now that I look back on it, all that rambling.
