Matt, the neat thing is that God used individual Christians in the Family to reach you even though the organization at the top was already rotten & it all hadn't come out in the group yet. Years later with the strange doctrines and child abuse all the rotten stuff in Berg's heart took over him and seeped down into the organization and screwed things up there too. But that doesn't discount that there were Christians in the group & God used some of them to reach you.
It's hard separating yourself from the group but just remember, God used individuals to reach you. They could've been in the group or out of it. You don't owe a lifetime's loyalty to any one person or any group. Just loyalty to Jesus.
