To me it doesn't matter if someone enjoys or doesn't like Harry Potter, or whatever. This is according to taste.
What bothers me is that it is automatically labelled as 'evil' because of the whole 'witch' thing coming from the Christian viewpoint.
It's not like the books are teaching kids to perform rituals, to meditate to the 'gods'. There aren't even any 'gods' or 'goddesses' in the books, which are an integral part of witchcraft. (Although they do a bit of crystal glass meditation in book 3, but that's basically poo-pooed in the whole HP world).
I think she took the idea of magical powers in the form of a child witch, and created a fantasy story around it.
How many of you fantasized about being Superman when you were kids, or Batman, or Wonderwoman, or Samantha, or whatever new fad superhero was around at that time. Sure, HP is not as innocent as the superheroes you grew up.
But I'd trade him for Heaven's Girl anyday!! At least I KNOW HP is fiction and a fun daydream, Heaven's Girl was reality and what I had to look forward to one day.
But back to the point, what bothers me is that things get put into this Christian box of right and wrong, and it all comes from a purely Christian point of view, and that is what bothers me. Take out Christian opinion from your view of Harry Potter, and then let's see if it truly is evil and teaching kids wickedness.
