None of us are perfect, but not everyone has the same battles of the flesh that others do. If women or men or the battle, then yes it something you have to always gaurd against. It's not like you still can't be caught off gaurd, but it's usually because we have decided in some way that the pursuit of the relationship is more important then our holiness with God.
But friendship is a wonderful thing, we can't judge others by our own weaknesses. I still have many male friends, but the point is I don't feel 'attracted' to them on that level, so I feel safe to have them as friends.
As a christian, the application is for all, not just married people. But I know how hard that is for the young and unmarried these days. But nevertheless, it's still true, in the end you lose to much spiritually and physcially when you have causual sexual relationships.
