Hi, MG.
The "Journeys" rules are that it:
-"was created for those who, while de-toxing from the spiritual atmosphere of The Family, wish to discuss spiritual and Biblical issues, including comparing genuine Christianity to heresies and spiritual abuse."
Also, "...while we encourage active dialogue, we must caution you that respect for those of different beliefs...some have had their faith nearly destroyed by the group...we ask you to please not repeatedly argue the same points, quoting verse after verse to prove your arguments. If you wish to engage in prolonged discussions about doctrines that are not crucial to understanding our cultic experience and recovery from it, we ask you to continue such discussions privately in emails."
And, "We wish “Journeys” to be a place where ex-members can feel comfortable discussing their faith or their personal spiritual journey, seek advice, receive affirmation and find healing from spiritual abuse. It is a place where questions can be asked and mental chains can be unlocked."
Finally, "All opinions are welcome. However, phrasing and tone are important. Insensitivity will not be tolerated."
So, with that said, I just want to assure you that I do not mock, nor do I intend to mock, any one examing any spiritual beliefs, including those of the "New Age", ESPECIALLY after a common experience in TF, but must state that I have extensive experience in yoga, the occult, and psychic stuff, and it was that particular spiritual destabilization which set me up as prey to TF doctrine in the forst place, IMO.
I personally believe that the power for the occult, including the so-called New Age, as I define it, comes from the same source as that of the Mo' Letters, and of the doctrines of David Berg, et al.
That means I consider it demonic, in the sense of 2 Cor 11, where Satan and his "ministers" do indeed appear "righteous" to those they are intentionally bent on deceiving.
Nothing disrespectful or personal, OK?
Please accord me the same respect; I thank you.
By the way, "holism" tends to mean SPECIFICALLY New Age; a better word, used a lot in Nursing terminology, would be "wholism"; where the reference is to "treating the whole person", diagnosing socioculturally as well as medically, not ruling out "Complementary and Alternative Medicine" (CAM), and so on.
As an educated man (no thanks to Berg, et al), I understand and support that. I am for "evidence-based" medicine, and complete compassion and "unconditional positive regard" for people, especially for the suffering.
But, as you can see; with my beliefs, I could never be expected to support "New Age" stuff; at least by my own definitions, now, could I?
That would mena allowing myself to be bullied by the "politically correct" agenda, and we all know what that feels like!
Please, feel free to e-mail me if you are interested. Otherwie I feel good about dropping the subject on this board; OK? Thanks, again.
