Yeah, faith in the Family was supposedly "strong" but only because we were so buttressed by the opinions of others around us who would report on us if we had a doubt. Only because our faith was so narrow and limited that, as Berg once boasted, "If I told you the world was flat, you guys would believe me." We HAD to believe crazy stuff out of fear of an angry, vengeful God if we didn't.
