I want to say ....Way to go PD good post! Except for the fact that your exposé on how it was/is for you and so many SGs is so painful to read. But it is a really good post because it expresses so well things that needed to be said.
Let me add, when you say, "It's easier for me to believe in Kharma and recompense for past lives and past deeds than to believe that God has a purpose in it all and to leave our faith in Him," then you say “I want something solid.” Well to me what you say about Karma’s pretty solid stuff.
Yesterday I read something from someone I like to read, “We seem to forget about the laws of cause and effect, and that what we give out comes back to us. We must remember that each time we put forth thoughts, words, and actions; they come back to us as experiences.”
For me God doesn’t need to be defined by something religious, for eg. Bible interpretations or quotes. All I need to know is that something’s there which is higher than me, and through spiritual consciousness I'm able to get the help I need. I enjoy the life I live, I have a healthy measure of happiness and fulfillment. For me, it couldn’t be any more solid and real than that.
