First Nation Peoples
do not honor
the border between
US and Canada.
I have no legal claim
to First Nations heritage,
but I have chosen to live
in a way
where national borders
staked out by warring,
land-grabbing white men
have little meaning
and do not define
my humanity.
The borders between us exist
in the minds of some people,
but not in the hearts
of those with ancesters
buried in common ground.
