Hate is not a family value. If sexuality was so important, surely Jesus himself would have made a big point to say so. According to the Old Testament, just about everything is a sin. Eating pork, shrimp; women caught in adultery stoned to death-not the men..
Premiums go up due to costs and not due to same sex benefits. There are many "reconciling churches" which accept homosexuals in their mainstream churches. There are many Christian homosexuals, but health benefits are not based on belief systems. If they were based on Christianity then very few people would have health benefits. Heterosexuals are just as prone to illness as anyone else and many do not adhere to Christian principles. You have a choice to work somewhere else that does not offer such benefits, but you don't have the right to take them away where they do exist. And my hope is that civil unions or Gay marriage will be federally legalized some day. Even the most rigid Christians recognize that most people that are gay are predisposed to that orientation. There are many gays and lesbians that are alcoholics and addicts due to the rejection they have suffered for so much of their lives due to society's ignorance. Society used to be that way about left handed people and interracial marriage.
Is that what you would call the "good ole days"?
As far as Sodom and Gomorrah goes, the city was described as a society gone awry where rape, murder, and complete chaos reigned. What was so righteous about Lot offering his daughters when the men wanted the angel? He would send his daughters to be raped to protect an angel? What was up with God that women had so little worth according to the OT? You are entitled to your views that you believe are Gods views, but rest assured there are many that do not believe as you do that are very moral people.
