When accidents happen

Hi Matt. I don't know what your doctrine is on all this, but I no longer subscribe to Berg's old doctrine of, "If something wrong happens to you, if you have an accident, God is angrily judging you." I think that's a load of hooey!

In my view, accidents generally do NOT happen if we don't give enough, or if we're not "wholehearted" or whatever other so-called sin people want to blame us for. I think accidents are directly related to physical cause and effect. They happen because maybe we were careless and didn't see a marble on the ground and slipped on it, or maybe even we were being careful, but there was something we simply cannot see. In my view, "accident" means just that, "something that was not meant to happen" and they seem to happen to good people just as regularly as wicked people.

I'll agree God maybe sometimes lets things happen to slow us down, get us to stop and think, because after all, He's in control of things and orders our steps, but He's NOT Berg's angry, wrathful God just waiting for us to make a mistake so he can beat us down with a club. That was Berg's concept of God but it's not mine. God says, "I know the plans I have for you, not plans of evil, but plans for good."
