Back in the early 90s I read a fascinating book called the Dancing Wu Li Masters, published in 1979. It was a comparison of the new physics up to that date and various Eastern philosophies, and dealt largely with the idea of the interconnectedness of all things. Kind of like how Crosby, Stills and Nash sang "we are stardust". The ideas in that book meshed well with my growing understanding of the world view held by many indigenous cultures, understood in part by the concept of the web of life.
I am now just a couple chapters into The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory by Brian Greene, which explains in lay terms the latest discoveries and theories in physics. But please, no one ask me to explain this stuff. I'm more of an artist than scientist. I just find it extremely interesting to read about all these strange forces at work in the universe.
