You're slipping into a wider interpertation here. Are you talking about Governments or indivuals?

The Catholic Church never made doctrines to support worshiping images or sculptures. If the indiviuals do so that is not the fault of the church so much as the indiviual who is doing so. Again you will find with fundamentalists groups people within that group that are not rich nor feel condemned for not being rich. In most churches as Jesus brought out in Revelations 2 there are rarely the perfect church.

Culture does to some extent influence sexual behaviour, but still you have those who cling to what Jesus said and not what society thinks. Again this is up to the indiviual.

Some things may not be clear cut, but others definately are. What Berg did in leading people to sin can not be mistaken. That people are still willing to believe that delusion show God taking a hand in the matter.

2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
