Quite a fantastic way of putting it...it saves me precious time of formulating it, with E. being not my mothertongue.
I think, depending of what you experienced as
abuse, or injuries, your recovery seems to be made of the factors: physical/spiritual strength & stamina while you underwent the "ordeal", being in the group, the amount of injustice done to you & the help offered after leaving the group.
If you had suffered little pain in the group, were
pretty much "in shape", had wonderful help afterwards...well, to me that seems easier than what else we heard.
(By the way, I don't imply Don had it easy...even myself, I had it fairly easy)
At the same token, someone who gets delivered with a cut to be stitched into hospital should normally see speedily recovery, almost independent of age etc., whereas there are plenty of sicknesses where the road to recovery is long.
In addition to that, I want to repeat my stance, that the pivotal role IMO for any recovery is the acknowlegement of sin/failure, asking God for forgiveness, being able to forgive yourselve & others likewise & making amends, doing deeds to prove the remorse.
And the ability to feel for other Ex-oppressed ones seems to me a needed "good work"...sometimes that seems to be missing among us & even with you,
Mr. Don (sorry), I didn't always see that either, which caused irritation on the side at people like Perry e.g....which measure with precisionscale ; ) how real or supposed Christians behave and word things
P.S. But I do feel/ think, that people with very heavy/bad experiences could ultimately become the
"heavy champions", those with such big "vacuums",
to experience real love & peace, will ultimately
have their needs met & they are the ones, who can really stretch out & feel with the suffering...
Could that be!!??!
