How do you know that they ar enot in the family when their behavior suggests otherwise? I'd be very careful. They are masters of disguise and deception is their game.
My personal test is for people to denounce the teachings of Berg. Some will go all the way to denounce the leadership, even the current leadership, but will never cross the line of declaring publicly that most of Berg's teachings were evil.
Just like that verse about trying the spirits, try those who say they are not in the family and see how far they go in their denounciations.
