Believe me, I would never in my life have memorized on single Bible verse if it weren't for the Family. Sure, I may apply some of them a little differently now, but they are there in my heart and mind because once upon a time I memorized them. Ditto for the verses my kids learned. I see that as a very good thing.

Also, although I certainly understand what Acheik is saying, I find that the idea of taking a positive outlook on things to be one of the GOOD things I have retained. When it rains, I don't complain, I think how green it will be tomorrow. When I stub my toe, I don't swear but think "Thank God it will be better soon." When the pace is unbelievably hectic at the office, I think, "Thank God I'm not bored and I receive good pay for my work." etc. etc. etc. One of my office co-workers several years ago nicknamed me "Pollyanna", in an affectionate way, and I am glad I am perceived that way and very definitely know it is one of the good things I retained from my 23 Family years. It was not my "natural" personality.

There are PLENTY of posts about the bad. I think it is psychcologically and emotionally helpful once in a while to find some good things!
