You are also right about my point about Prof. Kurtz but it goes even further. I suspect theories of learning in general because while they may explain some things, there is also the intrinsic problem of how to measure it.
The underlying motivation he proclaims as critical is also a part on many other phenomena. I am afraid that thoughts as his are conducive to create limits on classes of people based on the idea that they are not motivated and therefore ncapable of getting more "intelligent". I find that ludicrous, dangerous and promoted by people I called intellectual elitists, where only one type of intellect is considered "intelligent" or appropriate.
That was what I was addressing. Perhaps my post should have been a separate thread. I apologize for that.
