I have found that sweeping condemnations and negativity are quite common on these boards. I see them as a "swing" to the other extreme, a reaction to the "head in the sand how incredibly wonderful the Family" is attitude that is so promoted in the Family.
Also, it is part of the legacy many us of learned in the Family, unfortunately. When people make statements like "all churches suck" or something like that, without realizing it, they are continuing the Family-taught blanket condemnation of all churches; when in fact, it is impossible to lump all churches together, any more than it is possible to lump all women, all Hispanics, all blacks, or any other group together and make sweeping generalizations about them.
The same goes with statements like "there's not one good person in the Family." You simply cannot make such statements and, at least for me and in my opinion, be taken seriously. You can say, "I never met anyone in the Family I liked." That is a personal experience to be listened to, respected, and discussed.
So to leave the Family and continue that mindset of blanket condemnations is, in my opinion, one of the things we should all watch out for and try to overcome.
