Hi, MG.
You may not agree with the character qualities that (at least in print) were advanced by the Family as the best traits to possess, but it is undeniable that certain traits were encouraged: humility, selflessness, happiness, giving to others, patience, diligence, conviction, kindness, positiveness, conviction, hard work, etc. I don't have hardly any Family pubs anymore, but a quick look through the Good Thots, one of the few Family pubs I still possess, turned up thousands of quotes (both by "Dad" and by others) along those lines.
I still believe that every one of the abovementioned qualities are good ones to possess and to work towards. If you took that list and presented it to someone who never heard of the Family, my guess is they would agree those are all qualities to strive for. So that's what I do now- I can take a quote from the Good Thots like: "Be kind to unkind people- they need it the most"; "Think what others ought to be like, and start being like that youself"; and "You are making progress if each mistake you make is a new one" and look at each quote fresh and see if there is something there that can help me today.
