You first paragraph really put me off. One thing I DO know is that God gave me a mother's heart for my children, and I recognise that when my heart misgives me about my children it's for a reason, and I NEVER ignore the call to fight for them in any way they need it.(even though they may be adults)
It is NEVER selfish to do this.
But maybe I didn't understand what you were trying to say?
