Berg used the "fishers of men" verse to make me into an assistant pimp. I was convinced I was "yeilding" the to highest will of God as I drove my wife to the contacts the escort agency had connected her with. Our 2 kids were sleeping in the back of the van. We'd travel 100-200 miles sometimes in one night to see as many as 3 johns, oops I mean "fish". In my wife's mind she thought she was laying down her life for the sheep and I thought I was a fisher of men. (Our conscience was telling us otherwise, but in the Fam we became experts at compartmentalizing.) It made a lot of money and in a short time paid our way to a 3rd world "mission field", where my wife soon became a part of the informal escort service the homes ran in that country. When we arrived in that field I asked the leadership how important Esing was there, and he answered "it's our survival", he didn't say it's a great soul winning tool, and it's giving us a chance to do a lot for God's work in this country. Simply, it brings in the needed cash. Actually, we had hoped that Esing wouldn't be so prevalent in the homes in the so-called mission field. We'd had enough, but that was the name of the game in those days, until the aids scare stopped it.
