Jo, you are talking about two separate issues here. The "Soapbox" board was shut down because the posters became so politically polarized before the last election that little meaningful dialogue was happening any more. The entire country was polarized! To insinuate that there were improper motives or some coverup for our purging the board is wrong. I was sick of the angry mess. Acheick made the very same observation, that the coordinators must be "guilty" of something to delete the contents of the political board. I guess this particular view, like conspiracy theories, has developed a life of its own.

As for real issues that can be worked through, the whole issue of differences between SGs and FGs and who's guilty and who's not, has been discussed and discussed again, and conclusions have been reached, with many people simply agreeing to disagree and sticking to your positions. Every now and again someone comes along and restates their opinion, often in almost identical words.

It's fine to go over the same issues again and again, as these are points that are very real to many of us personally, but if either side hopes to completely win the other side over to their opinion, I don't think that's going to happen. As you said anyway, the only people's opinions that matter to you anyway are your own kids who love you.

Maybe it would save a lot of time and emotional strain if the old discussions -- and they were very good -- were simply put together in a permanent artilce on this site, and that would save us all repeating ourselves. I mean this sincerely. I think it would be a good idea.
