Here's my take on this: Even if some of us "bury" the past to some degree as part of a moving on process, the fact is the past is still there and it makes up part of what we are today. Being able to forget the past can never be done comprehensively. There's the unconscious part of us that will always retain the memories.
Having these boards to say how I feel and to relate some of the stuff that happened to me, my wife and my children, has helped me and I've found support here. I guess some of us need recovery more than others.
