Hi there. This post is a continuation of one below. Seemed like a good ide to start a new one. But the topic is a continuation from 'does this sound like family ? '
Ok I've just come back from diner with the Woman I've been talking about. And, you're not going to like this, but I've forgotten the name of the church she told me she belonged to.
It wasn't TF or one I'd heard of. And was described as very small.
But I'm sure the initials were MCI or CMI. ( so sorry I was trying to take alot in and I just forgot ) The Church M(can't remember ) International. There was another name she gave it but I can't remember that either.
The 'International' made me wonder.
But here are a few things I learned.
She told me that she was bought up with the Church ( Baptist I think ) and ultimatly wasn't happy with being told what everything ment, and all the rules that went with it.
She's very close to her parents who remain baptists I believe, and frown slightly on her choice of church.
She said that it didn't matter if it was Moses and the Red Sea or wether it was another sea, it was the event that mattered not the geography.
She believes that the Bible is a living book, i.e. it means different things to different people at different times. I did ask her if she believed in the Ten Commandments.
She didn't directly say yes or no. But said that it was 'old testament' , and in the old testament there were many 'covenants' which were of that time. Mentioned something about some people thinking that even looking at a woman with lust in mind can be considered adultery.
So she's not Seventh Day or Jehovah or anything mainstream.
She believes there is a hell. " The gnashing of teeth for eternity".
I asked her what God would think of me, and she said that even if I had lived a good honest life, God would see me as little more than a dirty rag unless I'd accepted him and Jesus into my life.
But that King David ( I think ) despite some bad he did would be accepted as he'd accepted God ( is all this mainstream ? )
She hangs out with mostly non-church people, she drinks abit, she smokes, very occasionally she swears. I mean you probably wouldn't initially think she was a strong believer. But she seems to express her chosen beliefs very strongly when asked.
She's suggested I go with her to church one day. Something I've not completely ruled out. And also there is a family she knows down near the church who are' great', have a very welcoming house. Indeed it's the sort of place she feels she can go stay anytime even if it's 11 at night after a hard day at work ( which is probably a two hour drive ) .
I don't know.
Does all this sound bad ?
