I think what some people call demons and spirits I call multiple, severe, protracted trauma.
Trauma shatters the psyche and keeps it frozen in place. If this is what a demon can do, then trauma can be a demon. Some types of trauma are so severe they do not regress. It does not mean the demons win. It just means being human is a very vulnerable state.
