Mom writes paragraph after paragraph about her spiritual concerns. Religious thinking occupies most of Mom's energy and attention before she gets around to describing her daughter's current condition in life or mentions a few of Merry's most basic survival needs, e.g., a place to live, educational support, etc.
If you understand the point of this observation, you will understand why SGAs get so infuriated with FGAs whether they're out of the Family or not.
