China is notorious for human rights abuses, though I realize that many people are unaware of this. Granted if you're not a Christian, then the persecution of Chistions in totalitarian regimes is not something you'd necessarily think to look into a lot. But if you're interested, check out the internet. Here are a few words to Google:
"persecuted ... Christians ... China ... torture ... prison ... starve ... beatings"
