I feel a remorse that so many years were spent giving and receiving such a false love. It wasn't really a true love, it was a very conditional love.
When we rejoined the cult when I was 15, my Mother chose not to rejoin. We were pretty much taught that she was a backslider and we should not communicate with her, she was worldly... Where was the love for my Mother? She had been a cult member, she had given her 5 kids to the cult, where was the love coming from the cult to her?
But when she visited us 10 years later, some of the same people who told us not to stay in touch with her, who intercepted our mail, who kept the gifts she sent to us, were all so 'lovey dovey' to her, making her feel oh so welcome to the home. What BS and hypocrisy.
I am remorseful for giving more than 20 years of my life to a false and pretentious organization.
