The entire memory of the Family is tainted by the pervasive evil that seeped through the organization. My personal horizons were broadened by traveling to different lands & seeing different cultures, but it's not like I could that as a happy 'plus.' I might do so on my job resume' if it was a help, but it seems awful to be trying to make myself feel better about the criminal organization I was once part of by stressing the happy times & languagues learned & countries visited when so many readers have been hurt by this criminal organization.
It's like being a German citizen after WW2 and the whole Holocaust thing has come out & you try to reclaim some happy memories such as something funny that Fritz Schwartz, the SS officer said that had you & the whole regiment in stitches. Or you sit around with old army buddies talking about how beautiful the countryside in France was during the Nazi occupation. Or discuss the beautiful paintings taken from some fat Jews.
Even when I've finished integrating my own pain from the past, my own road to wholeness is not done. I think the next big step is truly grasping the Big Picture of what a criminal organization it was & how it hurt so many people.
