Acheick,

This is exactly what I have been looking for.

Is there anything you can tell me that will help me find out who these people were like, where was their commune? Who made the documentary? When did you see it? How did you determine this guy was a member of the COG, by personal inference, or statements from the documentary?

There was a segment made by Prime Time in the late 90s on the "garbage eaters." If this was the documentary you saw, I don't recall there ever being a mention of Jim Roberts having once been a member of the COG, although members of the GEs say they briefly visited and interacted with your people in the early days around 71. JR was busy sampling doctrines of other similar groups to incorporate into his own.

I came across a person some time ago who said their leader was once a member of Berg's cult, but split off on his own and formed his own. This was in So. Cal in the ealry 70s. I never was able to find anything more about this mysterious group from this person. I think you might be describing the same group.

I need clues, anything at all that you can remember about this documentary. It's often the little things that seem insignificant that are actually the greatest help because they lead me to make connections I wouldn't have otherwise made.

I remember seeing a documentary on them. The guy had been a member and then left and started his own. They kept some of the original teachings before Berg started changing them, like the women had to wear long dresses and the men didn't cut their hair. The worst thing was that they disappeared from family and friends and lived secluded in their cult, that was the same as TF as well as many of the biblical teachings.
