Brennan Manning is a catholic christian. He wrote The Ragamuffin Gospel. Some fundamentalist christians are offended by the mystical spirituality he espouses.
I enjoyed reading C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters: A devil's diabolical advice for capturing the human heart.
Flannery O'Connor is an interesting catholic christian writer who tells wonderful, quirky stories about the "Christ-haunted" south where she lived all of her life. Unlike other catholic writers of her generation, O'Connor comes very close to a Southern Baptist perspective on the human condition.
