Dear Perry, I apologise for commenting without
having read the book, but honestly my time is scarce enough, that I just limit my reflections on that what you quote & summarise.Since there's not really so much new under the sun, I have heard & read some of these thoughts elsewhere.
And after all, if you want to deal with Christianity, you have to occupy yourself with the teachings of Christ...so far so good.

As I am on the verge of my vacations, I want to quickly interject, that may be you should look into the definition of the unpardonable sin.I really am not convinced, that the description of
Drury is very precise.It's really important - if we quote scripture - to know the context...I like to add one IMO pivotal verse:
KJV Matthew 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. {Beelzebub: Gr. Beelzebul}

Like the OT says, they call good bad:

KJV Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! {call...: Heb. say concerning evil, It is good, etc}

I read something from the chinese Evangelist
Watchman Nee, claiming, that today it'd be difficult to commit the unpardonable sin, cause Jesus is not among us in the flesh, doesn't perform miracles before our eyes, like it happened with the Pharisees, in other words, they
were more accountable.
You might want to do a google or whatever search on the subject.I find it not very exhaustive &
plausible as presented.It's important to derive the definitions & thoughts from the original words, real exegese & not eisegese...projecting our thoughts into the scriptures.
