I never said Guatama was a saint or an spiritual exemplar. The wisdom of the specific teaching on ignornance speaks for itself. If we consider the problem of ignorance, we might realize that categories of meaning, such as "god with amnesia" are culturally-bound forms of "knowing" that have little relevance to the people who follow the 8-fold path. By comparison, the image of a brutalized man hanging on a cross is culturally repugnant and philosophically convoluted to many devout Buddhists. Simply because they don't get it, I they think they interpret it from the perspective of their cultural biases--doesn't mean there's no wisdom in the Way of the Cross.
