Yes, you're right. These days even people who dispute Jesus' claims or dispute the full accuracy of the Gospel accounts at least acknowledge that Jesus was an actual historical figure. I checked out the once-blockbuster sales of the "Sacred Mushroom and the Cross" online, by the way, only to find that it was out of print, which shows how passe' its thesis is. Yet there was a day when we were "persuaded with facts and logic" that Jesus was merely a coverup for a sacred mushroom cult.
And then of course, there's "Chariots of the Gods" which would have us believe that all angels and Bible accounts are UFOs.
