Many animals are homeless or had to be left behind because the evacuation process does not allow pets. There are relief efforts being made. Some shops like PetSmart, are in a "Just A Buck" campaign that will go through the end of this week. Ask if their money targets rescued pets from Katrina's devastating blow. All the money they collect goes to their targeted charity.
Another way to donate is via www.ASPCA.org as they are mounting a rescue mission.
