Hi my name is Maria.
I am 21 years old, born in India, 2nd generation now no longer in the family.
I just got through reading Steve Matheson’s Voice in the Wilderness posted on journeys.
It was very sobering and thought provoking, a beautiful writing, and I think that through it Steve is really reaching out to young people like me.
I still believe in God and thankfully I did not throw the baby out with the bathwater,
I really wish that more young people could have a chance to read this touching writing, because I think that it would really encourage many like it has done for me that there is still a God, and that he does still deal with his children, often more severely than those who are ignorant and don’t know him.
What Steve says about blessings and curses is very true. It’s not just a coincidence that Rick murdered Angela and then killed himself or that Aaron killed himself.
I personally would echo his plea to Maria and family leadership to wake up and smell the coffee. Whatever ex or former family members think of what Rick did none can deny that it’s a catalyst for change.
This is something that won’t go away and cannot be swept under the carpet it’s a statement, I don’t think the Family can ever be the same after this.
Steve through his writing has endeavoured to bring this out and deal with it.
I think personally that it carries more weight from someone like him who knows the pain of loosing his own child.
The Family population count he presents is very interesting I had no idea that so many people had left the Family, or that there was so few second generation adults left.
I would encourage any one and everyone to read this writing.
Peace
Maria
