I was wondering what were some of the final straws that enabled you to make the break with the Family? You have described a lot that you don't like about where the Family is at and I agree with you 100% regarding your concerns. But personally, what was THE defining moment?
I realized that I was leaving for years before my feet were out the door, but the defining moment for me was a letter about considering children to be adults at 12 yrs old, The Marry Time Dream Letter and knowing that funds were being raised to go to India and once crossing that border, kids would go to camps and monies would be turned into the family. I had been to a third world country and was abandoned there for nearly a year by the family with three kids and a West German Guy. Wow. Almost a whole year of missed letters, and I never even caught up since so much stuff was coming out, including lots of nightmares. Anyway, my defining moment was realizing the screws would be tightened beyond recall, I had my kids together and the funds to go even though I took our India cut and said I was going to travel with another family. The looser control at that particular time as far as any higher leadership NOT being around goes also helped pave the way. I just left. It was really hard but I don't regret a second of it.
