I'm totally convinced that that the dynamics of domestic violence explain what happened in TF. I have enough experience with this to know that once you get caught up in the energy vortex of intimacy, fear, manipulation & coersion, it's extremely difficult to cut loose. Very smart people who should know better fall into these types of relationships every day. Your observation is so true: "Once a person has become an object, it's hard to have a mind of one's own."
