Yeah--I see your point.
Actually, I saw that site a while back. One read was enough for me.
Scripture does say to "give wine to those that are of a heavy heart, and strong drink to them who are ready to perish", and Paul wrote about using a moderate amount of wine for medicinal purposes" ("...for thy sstomach's sake, and thine often (plural) infirmities.").
That site seems to be of the persuasion that "any" use of ethanol in "any" form is not only going to immediately qualify you for Hell, but that it's inseparably linked to some kind of "witchcraft", since the "cordials of Turkish Delights" weren't just rum-filled celebratory treats in very small quantities, but were made by the stroies counterpart for Satan himself, the White Witch, and had a "witch's potion" quality inseparably linked with them.
In C. S. Lewis' story, they did, and Paul in the NT definitely asked the Galatians "Who hath bewitched you...?", but the non-sequitur presumptions that these self-righteous folks make are just proposterous; IMHO.
By the way, I am an insulin-dependent diabetic (I get a pump next Wednesday--Yay!), so I am very caredul, selective and moderate in my ethanol consumption, and I am careful to not stumble others with my liberality, which is actually pretty insignificant.
But I do like my Shiner Bock on occasion, like after I mow the yard & and get all hot and sweaty.
I've dealt with major depression over the years, and I even take a shot of Jack Daniels on a very rare occasion--I just don't do it to get drunk.
Merry Christimas to all, this holiday season!
Sincerely,
OT2 (OldtimerToo)
