I have met many exmembers who agree with Jim's line of thinking. You know, "well, you could have left, why did you stay?" and "the door was open, I left." These type of exmembers have irritated me so much that I refuse to have anything to do with them. Why subject myself to more pain?
This one guy in particular left his wife and whole family and went back home. He's very critical of people who criticize TF because he was so smart as to just leave. Well, bully for him that he could do that. I couldn't. I may as well have slit my throat. There was no way in high heaven I was going to leave my children behind. Besides that, I truly believed the twisted version of the Bible that Berg promoted, I thought it was God and I was terrified to go against God. Apparently, these people didn't have any faith or were able to separate the twisting of verses from reality.
And, it's usually men, I might add, who have this cheery attitude about just walking out the door. Could it be that men are able to block out their emotions so they can do that? Even in the field of battered women, it's usually men who have that gruff attitude of -"well, she stayed with him" or "she spread her legs." That really angers me too.
