It wouldn't surprise me if Berg made up some of his qualifications or fudged a bit in exagerating them. Like his version of his military service and "heart problems" vs. why did he really have to leave the service? It would be interesting if someone could find records and see if he was Valedictorian. Also, where?
My grandfather was Valedictorian at his high school and a very smart man, but the school was also a small one. It would not equate with being a Rhodes Scholar though had either applied themselves or in some cases had the opportunity to, it could have happened.
It reminds me of Virginia Brandt Berg and her miraculous healing testimony when she was on deaths bed and yet managed to forget she had children during that time..
