Well, dear Skep, the Lord has mercy on all his doubting Thomases, I guess once in a while, we're all a doubting Thomas then a betraying Peter or Judas, interested in what's in it for me, then a John laying at HIS chest...anyway...I heard that before...faith kind of the ignoramus-version of what is called fact for the very learned, progressive man.

From the biblical point of view faith is very much linked with knowing/understanding, just have again a look at Hebrews 11...by faith we understand...

KJV 1 Corinthians 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

Just have a look at the articles below about Gödel....when I was thinking about it in the very light, understandable version with 19 years of age, I just dropped out of the university studies & set out, to find the right religion.If it required some faith in math & physics & all the rest, well, then I thought, I might as well try to find the right faith...way of life...

First of all faith is HIS gift/fruit to us, by the Spirit & also by His word, which are spirit & life(giving):

1.Cor.12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

KJV 2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

KJV Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Knowledge however can be either something "too" carnal, earthly, evil, devilish or some Godgiven knowledge of the good kind....point of reference:
Garden of Eden...(although there can definetely also be the wrong kind of faith:KJV 2 Thessalonians 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie)
.

People really seem to desire more knowledge of "any" kind...as I think man in his ego wants to appear different/better than his neighbour...pride, status, power as a motivating factor.

But love edifies, builds up, the right kind.I witnessed lots to sceptics in Europe, Germany, in the old days & I often asked them, how much they need(ed) to know about a person they really fell or would fall in love with...very little to nothing, beside some deep looks...intuition, one may call it whatever way...it has little to do about the biography of the person, the facts before & behind it.IMO love is
so much more powerful & edifying, than mere knowledge & how would one define love, with knowledge??You know, that the evolutionists
have quite a difficult time to impart altruism into their thoughtsystem....also it was/is little clear, why there's the need for sex, if you have
asexual reproduction...
There are plenty of scientists who respect a spiritual supreme being, but not necessarily believe in the God of the Bible...
The theory of evolution requires indeed a lot of faith...how to get around the 2nd law of thermodynamic?.The evolutionists talk about selforganisation of cells , in the microcosmos...really? Wish that happened in my kitchen in the macrocosmos & so on...sure, they don't answer, where all the energy, all the elements come from, it just happened.We don't have a satisfying answer for them either, as far as the origins of God are concerned...He was always...

But one thing I can say, He definetely wants that contact with us: I was immensely searching as a teen, accepting lots in science in other religions, in society, being "tolerant", even helpful...looking into asian religion & the esoteric part of the world didn't help me either in my need for love, peace & real joy."Strange", that it all ended while addressing the (resurrected) man (God's son) of "Galilee"....a prayer to Jesus was the end & a wonderful beginning.
What do I need to understand it all, when I am happy with what I found.Jesus said, it should be enough for a disciple, that he'll be like his master...oh well, that'd be far out....I am not thinking too much about that, as I have rather earthly things to attend, but the prospect is huge &
in the meantime lots of other things get better too...I didn't get all my dreams & desires fulfilled, but I have something I wouldn't trade for anything else in the world...So what are you exactly looking for???Wish you all the necessary answers...really!!

KJV 1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. {darkly: Gr. in a riddle}

KJV Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Oh...P.S.....you think too much???Well, I know one, who thinks much more & doesn't seem to get a headache, whose thoughts are higher than the
heavens are above the earth...

A child should (if well cared for!)enjoy his childhood & growing up & it takes "ages" until it
understands the adult world...Jesus said, to become like a child ...in how many ways???
