You ask some very good questions Fred wish I had all the answers, you didn't even mention books that are not in the bible like the book of Enoch, aluded to many times in the new testement.
Good point you also made about the original languages Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic etc.
Fact is I could probably add on a list as big as yours, it doesn't hurt to ask these questions the only question I would ask to you is are you asking these questions because you want to believe, or because you are looking for a reason not to?
I remember one time shortly after the death of my dear daughter, I found myself witnessing to a lady who had lost some one close to her.
Upon hearing of my own loss she said how can U possibly still believe in God?
Before the death of my daughter I would no doubt have been able to furnish her with an inteligent thelogical reasoning, but in the circumstances all I could do was look her in the eye and say 'whats the alternative?'
I believe that witness had a more profound efect on her than any of my previous wise reasonings could have had.
So I guess thats about all I could say to answer your very good and thought out questions, 'whats the alternative?'
