Fred,
I've wrestled with a lot of these questions myself. After leavin' the fam. and having been involved with some others as well, I started a more personal journey. One thing I really believe is that God is a Spirit, and to seek out from Him, one needs to seek in the more spiritual realms, and more personally. I got a lot out of readin' and gettin' to know more of the native Americans. (As I was in India, and really believed the Spirit of Truth wanted me back in North America, being a North American myself, and more ready to share with other North Americans from my experiences). Without a whole lotta verbage, a few things that really helped me on my journey were: When sailing, and not sure which direction to go, don't go anywhere, but sit and wait until sure of which direction to go. When there's a whole lot out there to digest, eat the meat and spit out the bones. Also, a lotta things I wonder about don't really matter anyway, as what really counts is that I'm just right here, right now, and mostly need to just deal with that. As I'm gettin' older, I'm also startin' to believe that pain is just a way of life. I have to say tho, that I thank God that He has made Himself very real to me and continues to. Keep on keepin' on, man...
